Rice Husk ASH
Rice husk ash (RHA) is a byproduct obtained from the combustion of rice husks, the outer covering of rice grains. It is produced in large quantities in rice mills and is often considered an agricultural waste. However, RHA is rich in silica, making it a valuable material in various industries.
The properties of rice husk ash depend on the burning conditions. Under controlled burning, RHA can have a high silica content (over 90%) and can exist in a highly reactive amorphous form. This makes it an excellent additive in construction, particularly as a pozzolanic material in concrete, where it improves strength, durability, and resistance to chemical attacks.
